Layers
All CAD systems have a layer concept of some sort. Objects are placed on appropriate layers as a practical way of managing the objects within the model.
The layers dialog window can be used to:
-
Create new layers
-
Copy existing layer-definition to a new layer
-
Delete layers
-
Edit properties of existing layers (Color, Line style, Thickness, and Transparency)
- Thickness: the value sets the line thickness of the objects.
- Transparency: a number between 0 and 1 defines the transparency of objects where 0 means a solid, and 1 means a completely transparent representation.
-
Turn the Visibility on and off
-
Freeze layers from activity whilst keeping them visible
-
Turn on and off the own style of the objects. If Layer style checkbox is turned ON, then all the objects on the layer use the color, line style, thickness, etc defined in this dialog. If it is turned OFF (default setting) then all the objects use the global style. Object color by section is not possible when Layer style is checked ON.
